Experience Leonard Bernstein's legendary music performed live for the
10 Oscars®-winning masterpiece in HD and with original vocals.
The musical "West Side Story" from 1957 is a masterpiece that has lost none of its topicality to this day. With his ingenious music, Leonard Bernstein portrays the cultural and social conflicts, the love story and the rival youth gangs 'Jets' and 'Sharks' by interweaving various musical styles such as jazz, opera and Latin American dance music.
The film adaptation of the “West Side Story” in 1961 was one of the greatest cinema successes ever: the virtuoso production in the streets of New York was awarded a total of 10 Oscars®. After much-noticed live performances in 2018 at the KKL Luzern, you can experience the “West Side Story” again in spring 2022 in all its glory in HD quality on the big screen in the concert hall. While the film shines on the big screen, 80 musicians from the City Light Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Anthony Gabriele play the electrifying music of Leonard Bernstein with the unforgettable songs live.

In a heartbreaking scene on a fire escape in the backyard, the two swear to love each other forever. But soon they find themselves between the fronts of the rival gangs. This is how the tragic story takes its course ...
